For our topic ‘On the Farm’ we have been learning about the
life cycle of chickens. We discovered how a hen makes then lays and egg and how
the baby chick develops inside the shell. We were delighted to discover that a
pupil had been incubating eggs at school and we went to see the newly born
chicks!
Isn't the chicken fluffy and cute! I remember when P5 were at nursery with Frank, they hatched eggs in an incubator. They marked the eggs with "X" and "O" and turned them daily. They also made sure that there was plenty of water in the incubator to keep the shell moist so that the chick could hatch easily. I supplied the eggs and we hatched 6 out of 8 eggs. We were really pleased. Caroline (Erin's mum)
